Probably the best Birthday ever!

Last week I started my three-week internship at the University of Zurich. I’m working at the movie sciences where I can help them doing their boring office stuff, but I can also learn a lot of practical things about old colouring methods, technical things and scanning old film.

Last Friday I had my birthday. In the morning I went to the Uni, did some film scanning and then went to eat lunch with them. One student even made an appetising chocolate cake for me which was so sweet!

Later that afternoon I had free time and went drone-filming at my school for a little project some of my friends are making. It’s about how our school is really ecological and recycles a lot of things :)
Then some friends of mine and I had a meet-up like every Friday with a lot of immigrants at our school. They come around, and we play some volleyball and football together which is a lot of fun, and it’s for a good cause because they can get to know others and speak German with us.
After preparing some really excellent food with a friend, I had a jam session in the evening. We thought we were way too late but then arrived just in time! It was a beautiful and unique jam session with some fresh ideas. They made people write words on paper, and we had to interpret these words into music which was funny and cool (sometimes a little bit chaotic too :). There were words like “Oriental” but also words like “Chives” :D The jam session went on until one o’clock in the morning!

On Saturday I hosted a party for my friend’s return from Guatemala and for my birthday. We made fondue for twelve people and had a lot of fun jamming again!

The same on Sunday when I invited my family over for cake and coffee, more cake, more cake!

One awesome week up in the Alps!

The weather was lovely, the entire week long! I went to Lenzerheide with my parents to ski and snowboard, a place in the Alps where we went for ten years. Maybe the snow was not the best, but the sun was shining all the time. The location Lenzerheide is enormous. There are so many ski lifts that you cannot go on each and every one in one single week!
We resided in a youth hostel, where we meet up with the same people every year. The place is right next to the ski piste which means that you don't need to walk in the morning to get to the piste and in the evening you can just snowboard back down right to the entrance of the hostel!

I took lots of panoramas with my drone this week which I've put together as so-called "Little Planets". I think they turned out quite nicely :)

More Drone Photography

As some of you might have noticed from previous posts, I've got myself a new photography tool: a drone. It's cool because it's quite tiny and lightweight. Therefore I can fit it into my backpack easily and take it with my wherever I go!
Just a couple hours ago I passed through Zürich to go to the mountains on ski holidays with my parents. I made a little stop in Zürich and flew a few miles around. Here are some of the pictures I took :)

Last weekend my parents and I went to Zuoz for two days. It's a village in the mountains near St. Moritz, tiny but beautiful! I flew around a bit too:

Some might wonder what is going on in this shot. I'll explain: I was actually lying on the floor in a small tower which had a big hole on the top. The rest of that tower was covered in snow (what you can see outside of the ring).

And here's another picture of Baden taken with the drone:

I hope you enjoyed this weeks post! Feel free to share it or leave a comment below :)

Through the lens of an immigrant, Concert recording

This week was great!
On Wednesday I prepared a photography exhibition with Farhad. He's a Syrian photographer who now lives here in Switzerland for about one and a half years as an immigrant. We did a project a couple months back where we went onto the street with him, and he had to take some pictures. Later we analysed them together, and now I offered him the chance to present them at our school.
It was quite some work until we prepared it all! First, we had to get some more presenter-boards form another building, put the pictures on them nicely and help Ali make tea for the exhibition. Just on time everything was ready :D
There were a lot of people, more than I expected. At one time nearly the whole room was full!

My friends had a concert in a small cinema on Thursday, where they performed live music to a muted black & white film. It was really well done, they did a great job!
I was asked to record the whole thing, audio and video. And of course, I did! It took quite some time to set it up, with all the cameras and stuff. Now I still have to edit everything..!
